Comment   = Graduate US Military Academy at
West Point, 1842.  Met Louisa at Jefferson Barracks, 
MO, where her father was Commandant.  Served in Mexican
War, wounded at Chapultepec.  Joined Confederacy as
Major, promoted to Major General, then Lt. General. 
All of their children, but one, died of small pox 
within one week in 1862.  Became outstanding leader,
author, Minister to Turkey, US Railroad Commissioner,
etc., etc.  Operated hotel in Gainesville, GA, 
famous for his wine and fried chicken.  Re-married late
in life to Helen Dortch.  Many novels and movies based
on his life.  His campaigns still studied at West Point.
